But upstairs is a true hidden gem: a gorgeous, urban rooftop greenhouse and banquet hall perfect for a stylish green oasis wedding. The building is simple and modern, and gorgeous views of the Grand Rapids skyline surround the event space. About The Downtown Market Wedding Venue
Since 2013, the Downtown Market has provided the Grand Rapids community with fresh and innovative dining, food and beverage-centric shopping, and free educational events and activities. It has become quite a popular spot for food enthusiasts and entrepreneurs!
The building is LEED certified and has plenty of eco-friendly and sustainable features, including a green roof, live walls, a rain garden, and so much more. It’s a love letter to our city, planet, and all of the local businesses that help Grand Rapids thrive.
Details of the Grounds
Hosting a wedding at the Downtown Market is having the best of both worlds; lush, tropical plants will surround you in a bright and sunny greenhouse amidst the industrial, urban aesthetic of downtown Grand Rapids.
Within the Downtown Market venue are a few different spaces for you to play with. The Greenhouse can accommodate up to 180 guests for a ceremony, 80 for a seated banquet reception, or 150 for a standing cocktail party. It is bright and spacious throughout the day and enhanced by the glow of the surrounding city lights once the sun goes down.
The Garden Room has similar vibes to the Greenhouse but is more compact and cozy for a more intimate event. Use it for a smaller ceremony, hosting your dinner buffet, or even as a dance floor!
The Banquet Room is modern and stylish, with floor-to-ceiling windows, classic hardwood floors, and outdoor terraces that give you a closer view of the Grand Rapids cityscape. The Banquet Room has a full prep kitchen for caterers and plenty of space for all of your guests - up to 180 seated for dinner.
Photography Opportunities
There is no shortage of photo opportunities at the Downtown Market, no matter the vibe you seek. Of course, their gorgeous greenhouses make for romantic, organic portraits with vibrant pops of green and plenty of natural light. Photos out on the terraces can have a more urban vibe with the historic buildings of the cityscape as your backdrop.
